Our very own Tom Saunders was mentioned in The Ledger this week for his contributions to the work of Milton Patrick at The Church Service Center in Bartow, who refurbishes donated bikes for children. We, at the Saunders Law Group, passionately support the work of M.P. (as he's known in the area) and are proud of Tom's support of local children's initiatives.
The law firm participated in the Downtown Lakeland Partnership's First Friday program on November 4, 2011. The Downtown Lakeland Partnership arranges First Friday events, on the first Friday of each month, to promote community and is "An Art & Entertainment Experience". While this was the "first" by the firm, we hope to participate in many more First Fridays. The lawyers, paralegals and some volunteers were on hand during the November 4, 2011 First Friday, which was co-organized by the Polk County Builders Association, meeting with people and discussing ways in which the firm could help people with an array of different problems. Pictured below are some photos of the event.
Alan Perez was a presenter and a panelist at an event held at the Polk County Courthouse entitled "Emerging Hispanics in the Tenth Judicial Circuit". The event was organized by the Tenth Judicial Circuit Historical Committee and the Hispanic Bar Association for the Tenth Judicial Circuit. The Honorable Justice Jorge Labarga of the Florida Supreme Court was a distinguished guest and keynote speaker at the event, which drew a crowd of about 120 attorneys and judges from within the Tenth Judicial Circuit.
Alan Perez became a founding member and Vice President of the Hispanic Bar Association of the Tenth Judicial Circuit. The Hispanic Bar Association of the Tenth Judicial Circuit focuses on promoting diversity and awareness of the growing Hispanic population around Polk, Hardee and Highlands Counties. The "HBA" seeks to promote awareness of the special legal needs and considerations required when representing Hispanics.
